There are many recipes for shrimp malakari. Malaikari is usually made with coconut milk. This is the main ingredient. However, many people use cow’s milk instead of coconut milk. Moreover, there are some differences in the cooking methods of the region. Medium or large shrimps are usually used in Malaikari. Large shrimp has been used in this recipe.
Ingredients
Shrimp: 3 large pieces
Onion paste: 1 cup
Turmeric powder: 2 teaspoons
Dried chilli powder: 2 teaspoons
Ghee: 4 teaspoons
Bay leaves: 2-3
Cardamom: 5-6
Mustard oil: Quantitative
Coconut milk: 1 cup
Tomato puree: 4 teaspoons
Ginger-garlic paste: 3 teaspoons
Sugar: 2 teaspoons
Pepper, slice: 5-6 pieces
Cinnamon: 5-6
Salt: to taste
Water: As needed
Steps
Step 1
Wash the shrimps well and put salt and turmeric in it
Step 2
Heat oil in a pan.
Step 3
Add 1 teaspoon of ghee.
Step 4
When the oil is hot, add bay leaves, cinnamon and cardamom.
Step 5
Now fry the shrimps.
Step 6
Onion kept in the beet with the same oil.
Step 7
When the onion is lightly fried, add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric and dried chilli powder.
Step 8
When all the ingredients are well mixed, add 4 tablespoons of tomato puree to the pan.
Step 9
Once the spices are gone, add salt and sugar.
Step 10
When salt and sugar are mixed, add water to the pan.
Step 11
When the gravy boils, add the fried shrimp to the pan.
Step 12
Then boil coconut milk in a pan for a while.
Step 13
Now slice the raw chilli, cardamom and ghee over the gravy.
