The Delhi BJP president, Adesh Gupta, asked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to reopen weekly markets and compensate the traders associated with them. During a party protest on Friday, he said if liquor shops and malls can function, these markets should be opened as well.
He said due to the Covid-19 pandemic, about 2700 weekly markets were closed. Adesh Gupta asked, “But now corona is largely under control and several things have been reopened, so why this continued injustice with these poor people?”
Adesh Gupta said that even though there was no law on the reopening of liquor stores, the markets must reopen under a certain framework of the law.
