Kovid-19 has changed people’s way of life, but it is doing more harm than good. Experts say that due to sitting at home for a long time and becoming unemployed, people are becoming mentally weak and suffering from mental problems. Again, since the days of lockdown, the use of computers or laptops at home for office work, or spending time behind the TV or mobile, these habits are making people physically weak. Because, in the terror of Corona, we have forgotten the outside world. Before the Corona outbreak, reading, listening to music, eating, shopping, hanging out with friends, or hanging out with family were commonplace. But now these are past. Humans have now become ‘housebound’ to avoid infection. I spend all day with my mobile, TV or laptop. As a result, at the end of the day, there are eye irritation, dry eyes, eye discomfort, red eyes, heavy feeling, blurred vision, forehead, neck, back, waist, headache, etc. Everyone from employees to students is facing this problem. Experts are identifying this type of problem as Computer Vision Syndrome or Digital Eye Strain.
But what is the way? Students ‘online classes, employees’ work from home, playing games, watching movies, everything is now dependent on mobiles and laptops. So at the moment it is not possible to find any way to stay away from all this. However, in this article we will mention the rules that should be followed while using all these devices to protect your eyes. Take a look at what to do and what not to do. 1) Take frequent breaks To avoid digital eye strain and to keep the eyes healthy, there is no better medicine than taking frequent breaks during work. According to eye experts, take a break every 20 minutes for 20 seconds and look at something at a distance of 20 feet. Take another 5 minute break every 30 minutes. Do not use any electronic device during this break. It will benefit the mental health as well as keep the eyes healthy. 2) Do eye exercises When you take a break between work, do different eye exercises. Regular eye exercises strengthen the eye muscles and relieve diseases like Myopia, Astigmatism, or Hyperopia. 3) Increase the font size Increase the text size when writing or viewing something on the screen so that you can easily read or work by keeping the devices away. This will reduce the pressure on the eyes and keep the eyes healthy. Try working on the big screen. 4) Keep the screen at a distance Do not keep the iPad, tablet, TV, computer, or laptop too close to the eyes. Keep the computer screen 15-20 degrees below eye level and maintain a distance of 20 to 26 inches. It will reduce the pressure on the eyes as well as neck, shoulder, waist pain will be relieved. 5) Use Anti-Glare Screen This Anti-Glare screen helps to control the extra light on the screen of computer or laptop. While this filter is not required at work, it should be used when working from home. Because this filter helps reduce eye stress and keeps the eyes healthy. 7) Keep the light level right Excessive light or less light creates more pressure on the eyes, and creates problems in vision. So keep the right amount of light in the place where you will be working. Never work in low or high light. 6) Use computer glasses Those who use computers or mobiles excessively should use glasses with anti-reflective lenses. These glasses help to reduce eye stress, blurred vision, headaches etc. 6) Maintain eye health Eat foods rich in vitamins and minerals daily to relieve eye strain and eye fatigue. Eating vegetables, carrots, papaya, dates, etc. is very beneficial for eye health. You can eat fish like omega-3 oil, flaxseed oil, salmon, and sardines to keep the eyes hydrated. Also 1) Wipe the screen of the device at least once a day. 2) Give a splash of water in the eyes every 30 to one hour. 3) Have eye examinations every six months. 4) When using a mobile or tablet, keep it at least 50-100 cm away from the eyes. 5) Hold the eyes on the palms of the hands for 2-3 minutes every hour. 6) If any problem occurs, consult a doctor without delay.

Thanks for the tips, Very informative. I’m a programmer and i spend an average screen time of 10-14 hours at work and home and often feel strained and back pain. Sometimes i think there is no war out and you can’t work simply lying around.
