Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will kickstart the proceedings of the double-header Saturday when they square off in Match 42 of Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
KKR will be looking to bounce back in style after their eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). DC will also be eager to make amends following their loss against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in their last game.
While both the teams are currently in the top half of the points table, a win will help them strengthen their position
The last time these two teams squared off, it was a run-fest in Sharjah where close to 440 runs were scored. While DC scored 228 batting first on the back of skipper Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 88*-run blitz, KKR, despite falling short by 18 runs, scored 210 in the chase, courtesy Eoin Morgan and Rahul Tripathi’s cameos.
Lockie Ferguson
Lockie Ferguson has picked four wickets from his two matches for KKR this season. Add to it, his two in the Super Over against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The New Zealand pacer will be someone that KKR will bank on as they look to make a strong return following their loss against RCB.
Eoin Morgan
Eoin Morgan has so far scored 278 runs from 10 games this season and he will be looking to play a pivotal role as KKR look to regroup following their below-par outing against RCB, where they could not score more than 84. As KKR look to turn it around, they will be looking at their skipper for a special performance with the bat.
Shubman Gill
While he has been KKR’s leading run-getter this season, Shubman Gill has not looked at his usual ease with the bat in the last few games. But the right-hander will be looking to change that and come out all guns blazing against DC. If he has a good outing with the bat at the top, KKR will be in with a chance to post a formidable total on the board.
Shikhar Dhawan
106*, 101*, 57 and 69*. That’s how Shikhar Dhawan has gone about his business with the bat in his last four outings (most recent first). Following his successive hundreds against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he became the first batsman to achieve that feat in the IPL history. The left-hander, who is currently on the second spot in the leading run-getters list with 465 runs, will be looking to continue his outstanding run of form.
Kagiso Rabada
While DC could not come out on top against KXIP in their last outing, Kagiso Rabada continued his wicket-taking ways, by picking two wickets. The right-arm pacer, with 21 wickets against his name from 10 games, will be itching to power his team to their eighth win of the season.
Wild Card
Prithvi Shaw
He has only 11 runs to show against his name from DC’s last four games but Prithvi Shaw will be out to prove a point. The youngster had slammed 66 off 41 balls during his side’s previous encounter against KKR and that shall give him confidence as he looks to return to form.
